FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we hear most often from people using Trend Screener.

Is Trend Screener free? Do I need an account?

Yes — it's entirely free, with no sign-up or login required. The U.S. and Korean screeners, Industry Analysis, and Market Environment pages are all available at no cost.

Is this real-time data?

No. Trend Screener does not provide real-time or intraday quotes. Every figure is computed once a day from confirmed daily closing bars after the market closes. It should not be used to check intraday prices.

How often is the stock list updated?

It is recomputed and refreshed automatically after each trading day's close — from the confirmed daily bars once the U.S. close (16:00 ET) and the Korean close (15:30 KST) are final.

What does "8/8" in the table mean?

It means the stock passed all 8 conditions of Mark Minervini's Trend Template. Only when all eight are met do we treat it as a strong stock in a Stage 2 uptrend. Each condition is laid out on the Methodology page.

What does RS 99 mean?

An RS Rating of 99 means the stock is among the top 1% by momentum across the whole market right now. RS is a percentile rank versus the market (1–99), not an absolute return.

What does the "Leaders" filter screen for?

It keeps only stocks with an RS of 90 or higher whose industry also ranks in the top 10 by industry RS — applying the principle that a trend is most reliable when a strong stock sits inside a strong industry.

Why is the "Liquidity" filter separate?

Liquidity (average volume of at least 500,000 shares over the last 50 trading days) is an optional filter kept separate from the pass conditions. The default screen shows every strong-trending stock even if thinly traded, and you can turn the filter on when you want only actively traded names.

Are the up/down colors reversed between the U.S. and Korean screens?

Following Korean investor convention, this site uses red for up and blue for down throughout. That's the opposite of U.S. charts (green for up, red for down), so keep it in mind when switching between the two markets.

A newly listed stock isn't showing up.

Because the 8 conditions rely on the 200-day moving average, a stock that has not yet traded for 200 sessions since listing won't appear until enough trend history accumulates.

Why are some stocks missing?

ETFs and preferred shares, ultra-low-priced stocks (around the under-$1 level), and — in Korea — micro-caps below a certain market cap (about ₩100 billion) are excluded from the computation to prevent rank distortion.

Are the selected stocks buy recommendations?

No. Trend Screener's results are reference material produced by mechanically applying technical rules — not investment advice or stock recommendations. The final decision and responsibility rest entirely with you.

Where does the data come from?

We collect and process confirmed daily bars (OHLCV) from external market-data providers after the close. The full set of formulas and selection criteria is published on the Methodology page.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Every page is responsive for mobile screens, and you can scroll the tables horizontally to see all columns.

Where do I send questions or report errors?

You can share feedback or report data errors through the Contact page.
